Sharing and proofreading links

Let someone read or edit a book, with or without an account here.

Steps

  1. As the book’s owner, open its Settings tab and find the “Sharing” card. Enter an existing username, choose the “Project role”, Reader or Editor, and click “Share”.
  2. For someone without an account, use the “Proofreading links” card: say “Who for”, set “Valid for (days)”, tick “Show the original text” if needed, and click “Create a link”.
  3. Copy the address straight away: it will never be shown again.
  4. The cards list the members and the links with their reads. “Revoke” ends an access when the proofreading is over.

What to know

Sharing comes with the Studio and Pro plans. With a Trial or Personal licence, nobody new can be invited and no link can be created, and existing links stop opening the book; members already invited keep their access, and nothing is deleted. Readers can view the book; editors can also correct it and start jobs. A proofreading link opens this one book, read only, without using an account of your licence and without setting a cookie. It lasts 30 days by default; leave the field empty for a link that never expires. A book can have at most 20 active links. The source text is shown only if you ticked it for that link, and anyone holding the address can use it until it expires or you revoke it.

Fictional example

Give a fictional editor the Editor role on volume 2, and send a proofreader a separate 14-day link that shows only the translation.
