Completion and recovery

Tell translated passages apart from those missing or kept in the source language.

Steps

  1. Open the Summary & recovery tab. It counts translated, missing and retained-in-original passages, open points and unresolved alerts, and shows the result of the final review.
  2. Know what has already been tried. A passage that fails climbs a ladder on its own: the same model told what went wrong, the passage in groups of four paragraphs, sentence by sentence, then without its context; then the stronger model, and only after it the fallback providers.
  3. Under “Passages to recover”, filter by Errors, Refusals, Not started or Blocked, select up to 200 displayed passages, and choose the book’s provider or another one as “Recovery provider”.
  4. Click “Retry selection”, wait for the job, then “Refresh summary” to see what is left.
  5. If you keep an original on purpose, export with the partial options and tell your readers which passages remain untranslated.

What to know

The order of the last two rungs is deliberate. A model that cannot translate a passage is failing at the work, and the answer is a better model; a provider that does not answer is an outage, and the answer is another provider. When nothing works, the passage keeps its original text with the reason, and the book is never blocked. Protected human choices are left out of automatic recovery. Coverage, EPUB conformance and literary quality are three different things; conformance is checked at export.

Fictional example

Select two refused paragraphs of a fictional chapter, retry them with a fallback provider, then refresh the summary and check that they now count as translated.
