Series consistency

Find what the volumes say twice, differently, and settle it with an explicit decision.

Steps

  1. Open the series’ Consistency tab. The audit compares what is already stored for each volume: glossaries, identities, genders, style sheets and translated passages. After a change, click “Run the audit again”.
  2. Each finding is either a Contradiction or a point To look at, with the volumes concerned.
  3. When a finding can be aligned, pick the value under “Choose…” and click “Apply to the whole series”. Volumes that made an explicit decision are left as they are, and the result says how many.
  4. Two sheets for the same character are settled in the Identities tab with “Merge…” or “Split…”: grouping two sheets is a decision, not an alignment.

What to know

No model is called, so the audit costs nothing. Changing a term governs the translations to come; for passages already translated, the book’s Glossary tab counts where the old word still appears and offers to replace it, without calling a model. When a series is too long to be read whole, the audit stops early and says so, and it then proves nothing about the rest.

Fictional example

Two fictional volumes translate “Keeper” as “gardien” and “veilleur”. Choose “gardien”, apply it to the whole series, then replace the old word in the passages already translated.
