Terms of sale and licence
These terms govern every Libris Translate licence and trial, whoever and wherever the customer. Ordering a licence or requesting a trial means accepting them.
Last updated:
1. Seller
Libris Translate licences are sold by Sébastien Charles Julien ANGERARD, a sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel, EI) trading as Libris Translate, at 5 Square du Nozeroy, 78310 Maurepas, France; SIREN 130 587 231, 130 587 231 RCS Versailles. The publisher can be reached at licences@libris-translate.com. Libris Translate is a trade name, not a separate company; see the legal notice. For an online purchase, the publisher sells the licence to Link, which resells it to you (article 4).
Libris Translate is sold worldwide, to individuals and to businesses. Where these terms speak of consumers, they mean individuals buying outside their trade or profession. A Pro quote may add its own terms; where the two differ, the quote prevails.
2. Plans and prices
| Plan | Personal | Studio | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price, VAT included | 50 € | 29 € a month, or 290 € a year | On quote |

Prices are in euros and include VAT: the price shown is the price you pay. Pro is sold on a quote, and its monthly price before tax, words, machines and accounts are those of the quote (article 4). The plans are also described on the pricing section.
Launch offer. Until 31 December 2026 included (Paris time), for purchases made online: Personal costs 35 € instead of its usual 50 €; Studio, monthly or yearly, is 30 % cheaper for the first 12 months of the subscription, for its first 20 customers. The discount is applied at payment, with no code to type, and appears on the payment page. It cannot be combined with another offer and does not apply to Pro. Once the date has passed or the places are taken, the usual prices apply.
3. Trial
- The trial lasts 30 days and gives 100 000 words a month, 2 machines and 1 account, with every format, every provider and the full autopilot. The automation API, the MCP server and book sharing (members and review links) are not included.
- It is free and asks for no payment card. It ends by itself, and nothing is charged afterwards; access to the image registry is withdrawn 7 days after it ends.
- One trial per email address, for life: an address that has already had a trial cannot have another, even after its data has been deleted, and an address that holds a licence cannot have one. Addresses with a “+” in the part before the @ are refused.
- If you buy, the trial becomes your licence on the same key.
4. Ordering, payment and invoice
- Personal and Studio are bought online, from the buttons of the pricing section. The online sale is made through Link, a service of the Stripe group that acts as reseller and merchant of record (the receipt says “Sold through Link”): the publisher sells the licence to Link, which resells it to you. Link charges the price shown, possibly converted into your currency, and your bank statement shows “LINK.COM*”. In most countries, Link computes the VAT of your country from the billing address you type on its payment page, includes it in that price and pays it to the tax authorities. In the few countries where Link does not handle VAT (list kept by Stripe), Stripe issues the invoice in the publisher’s name instead of Link’s, and no VAT is charged where none is collected. You give the address that will receive the key and tick the box that accepts these terms and asks for immediate delivery (article 12). The order is final once the payment is confirmed; the licence key, the registry credentials and the installation command are then sent to that address by email. The licence, its use and its support remain governed by these terms and provided by the publisher.
- When online payment is unavailable, write to licences@libris-translate.com naming the plan; the pricing section then prepares that email. We reply with a summary: plan, price including any VAT due, billing and these terms. The order is final once you have confirmed it and paid. A Pro quote is requested by email in the same way.
- Pro is sold on a quote. The quote sets the accounts, the machines, the words per month, the monthly price before tax and how long the quote remains valid. You accept it by paying the first month online, through the link it contains: the sale is then made through Link, as above, and the VAT of your country, where Link collects it, is added to the price when you pay. The subscription is monthly and renews every month; any minimum term (12 or 24 months) is stated on the quote.
- Every sale gives an invoice, sent by email: by Link for an online purchase (with the receipt), or by Stripe in the publisher’s name in the countries where Link does not handle VAT; by the publisher for an order by email. Questions about an online payment, a refund or the cancellation of a subscription can be sent to Link support (support.link.com) or to us; Link may refund an online purchase within 60 days in certain cases. A Studio subscription bought online can be cancelled from your Link account (link.com) or by writing to us; it then stops at the end of the month or year paid for.
- Studio and Pro subscriptions are billed in advance, from the date of the first payment: each month, or each year for Studio paid yearly (290 € a year). A yearly subscription renews each year for another year; we remind you by email no earlier than three months and no later than one month before each renewal, and you can end it before that date.
5. Delivery
Once the payment is recorded, the licence is delivered by email: a licence key, read-only credentials for the image registry and a link to the installation guide. You install Libris yourself, on your own Linux server with Docker. The publisher does not host your installation and has no access to it.
6. The licence
- The publisher grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Libris Translate on the number of machines, with the number of accounts and within the monthly words of your plan, for the duration of the licence: for life with Personal, for as long as the subscription runs with Studio and Pro.
- Personal is licensed for non-commercial use only: by an individual, for themselves, outside any trade or profession — translating for their own reading, study or a hobby, and sharing the result free of charge. Commercial use needs Studio or Pro: a translation made for payment or for a client, a translation sold or published for money, directly or through a store, and any use by a company, a public body or an association for its activity.
- Libris Translate is proprietary software. You may not resell, rent, sublicense or share your key or your registry credentials, nor work around the licence checks. Decompiling is allowed only within the limits set by law.
- You move machines yourself, from the licence screen. Activating one more machine than your plan allows releases the oldest one, provided it has held its place for at least seven days.
- Your books, your translations and the files Libris produces are yours. You are responsible for holding the rights to translate the works you import.
- Once an hour, and when a job ends, your installation sends the licence server its key, the Libris version, the words used in the current cycle, the number of active accounts, an installation identifier and a hashed fingerprint of its machine. Nothing of the books’ content is sent; see the privacy policy.
7. Word quota
- The quota counts the words of the source text; in Chinese and Japanese, two characters count as one word.
- It renews every month on the date you bought your licence (or converted your trial), not on the first day of the calendar month. Words left unused at the end of a cycle do not carry over.
- Since Libris 0.17.0, the words of a book are counted as soon as it is added, all of them, even if it is deleted afterwards without being translated. A chapter added or replaced later counts only its new passages.
- A book is accepted as long as its words fit in what is left of the current cycle plus a margin of 20 000 words. Otherwise it is refused, and nothing is counted.
- Once a book is counted, translating it, retranslating it or correcting a passage costs nothing more. Only comparing several AI providers on the same passages is counted on top.
- Words counted beyond the quota are taken off the next cycle’s quota.
- Books added before version 0.17 are still counted as before: passage by passage, as they are translated, within the same margin.
8. Updates
- Studio and Pro give access to every version of Libris published while the subscription runs.
- Personal gives access to the versions published in the 12 months following the purchase (or the conversion of the trial). After that, the licence keeps working for life with the versions already received, and the publisher still provides, until 24 months after the purchase, the versions that fix a security flaw or bring the software into line with a legal obligation. Renewing access to the new versions is optional.
- Versions are distributed through the image registry, and you decide when to update. An update may change or remove features; it does not promise any future feature.
9. End of a subscription
- You can end a Studio or Pro subscription at any time by writing to licences@libris-translate.com. It stops at the end of the period already paid, month or year; a period that has begun is not refunded. A Pro subscription with a minimum term stated on its quote ends at the earliest when that term is over.
- From the due date of a subscription that has ended or has not been paid, Libris refuses new translation jobs. Everything already produced stays readable, correctable and exportable: library, translations, glossaries and reports.
- Access to the image registry is withdrawn 7 days after the due date, as it is after a trial.
- The publisher may suspend or end a licence used against these terms, for example a key that is shared or resold, after warning you by email.
10. If the publisher ceases trading
- Every valid licence then receives an offline certificate that never expires and has no word limit, so that Libris keeps working without the licence server.
- The image registry stays open for 6 months afterwards, so that you can install the version that accepts this certificate.
- Until then, the certificate your installation holds is valid for 72 hours and renewed every hour: an outage of the licence server shorter than that does not stop your work.
11. Support
Write to support@libris-translate.com from the address your licence was sent to, with your Libris version and what you see. We answer on business days, Paris time. The times below are the first-reply times we aim for: indicative, not contractual, and no compensation is due when a reply takes longer.
| Plan | First reply (indicative) |
|---|---|
| Trial | Best effort |
| Personal | 3 business days |
| Studio | 2 business days |
| Pro | 1 business day |
Security report: acknowledged within 2 business days, whatever the plan. Write privately to licences@libris-translate.com with [SECURITY] in the subject.
What support covers
- The latest published version of Libris and the one before it, installed with the official installer.
- Installation, activation and the licence, updates, errors and anything the software does that the documentation says it should not.
What it does not cover
- The language model or provider you chose: its answers, availability, limits and prices.
- A Compose file you have modified, and versions older than the previous one.
- Your server, network, operating system and Docker installation.
- Backups of your installation, which are yours to make: we back up the licence server only.
No availability figure is promised for the licence server. Your installation holds a signed certificate valid for 72 hours and renews it every hour, so an outage shorter than that does not stop your work.
12. Right of withdrawal
A consumer normally has fourteen days to withdraw from a contract made at a distance. For digital content supplied at once, that right ends when supply begins with the consumer’s prior express agreement and acknowledgement that the right is lost (article L221-28, 13°, of the French Consumer Code).
A licence is delivered as soon as it is paid. When you order by email, we therefore ask you to confirm in writing that you want it delivered at once and that you give up your right of withdrawal; without that confirmation, the licence is delivered once the fourteen days have passed. When you pay online, the box you tick before paying is that confirmation: the payment page cannot be opened without it. The free 30-day trial lets you test Libris before you buy.
13. Warranty and liability
- Consumers benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (articles L224-25-12 and following of the French Consumer Code): tell us about a defect and we will bring the software into conformity or, failing that, reduce the price or refund it.
- Translation quality, the languages covered, speed and cost depend on the model you use, which the publisher does not supply. The publisher is not responsible for your model provider’s answers, availability or prices, nor for the rights to the works you translate.
- Backing up your installation is your responsibility.
- For business customers, the publisher’s liability is limited to direct damage and to the amount paid for the licence in the twelve months before the event. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it.
14. Personal data
What the licence server records, why and for how long is set out in the privacy policy.
15. Applicable law and disputes
- These terms are governed by French law. A consumer who lives in another country keeps the protection of the mandatory rules of that country’s law.
- Before anything else, write to licences@libris-translate.com: most problems are settled that way.
- Consumer mediation: in the event of a dispute, the customer and the publisher will try to settle it amicably; the customer first sends a written complaint to support@libris-translate.com. If no amicable agreement is reached, or if the publisher has not replied within a reasonable period of one (1) month, a customer who is a consumer within the meaning of article L612-2 of the French Consumer Code may, if the disagreement persists, refer the matter free of charge to the competent mediator listed by the Commission d’évaluation et de contrôle de la médiation de la consommation under article L615-1 of the same code: Société Médiation Professionnelle, www.mediateur-consommation-smp.fr, Alteritae, 5 rue Salvaing, 12000 Rodez, France. The request must be made within one year of the written complaint.
- Failing an amicable settlement, disputes are brought before the competent French courts; a consumer may also go to the courts of their place of residence.
16. Changes to these terms
An order is governed by the terms in force on the day it is placed. A change that affects a running subscription is announced by email at least thirty days before it takes effect, and you may end the subscription before then.
