Use an existing translation

Draw glossary terms from a TMX file, or from a book and its published translation.

Steps

  1. In the book’s Glossary tab, open “Take terms from an existing translation”.
  2. Provide a “Translation memory (TMX)”, or both the “Original book (EPUB)” and its “Published translation (EPUB)”.
  3. Click “Analyse without writing anything” and read the terms found: the names that both sides use.
  4. Click “Add to the glossary”, then accept or lock the terms you want to keep, and delete the others.

What to know

A name has to come back at least three times on both sides to be proposed, and the terms added arrive unaccepted: an alignment is evidence, not a decision. The feature suggests terminology for review: it does not turn the published book into a translation aligned in Libris Translate, and each pair still needs a human check.

Fictional example

Provide two fictional EPUBs, English and French, in which “Mara” stays “Mara” and “Keeper” becomes “gardien”, and check both proposals before adding them.
