A second target language

Translate the same source into another language without importing or analysing it again.

Steps

  1. In the book’s Settings tab, find the “Translate into another language” card.
  2. Choose the “New target language” and, if you like, a “Title of the new book”; left empty, it is the current title followed by the language. Keep “Carry the analysis over (Book Bible, characters, relations)” ticked to reuse what the analysis found.
  3. Click “Create the book in that language”, check the new book’s provider and style sheet, then start its translation.

What to know

The source chapters and passages are copied, and so, unless you untick the option, is the analysis: Book Bible, characters, relations and the genders you settled. The translations and the glossary are not copied, since they belong to the first target language. The analysis summaries stay in the first target language: they are context for the model, not text for readers. To have them written again, create the book without the analysis and run it. The new book is not attached to any series, since a series has a single language.

Fictional example

Create a Spanish version of a fictional English novel you have already translated into French: the characters keep their identities, and only the Spanish translation and glossary remain to be done.
